The Team
FocalPop was an idea born from a group of friends in the University of Texas MBA program and was developed through a series of new venture competitions. After gaining a deep understanding of how frustrated both photographers and buyers were with existing options in the photography marketplace, two members of the original team decided to bring FocalPop to the market after their graduation in 2009.
Brian Romanko — Co-Founder/President
Brian is the strategist, leader, innovator and visionary responsible for bringing FocalPop to life. With over ten years experience working in the web platform space, he brings a passion and drive for delivering an incredible user experience to FocalPop's customers.
Brian has worked at renowned design firm, frog design, as a technical director and architect providing personnel management of a diverse team of technical architects, technologists and technology solution managers on projects for several of frog's key clients including Hewlett Packard, Cisco, and Microsoft. Prior to frog, Brian worked for numerous startups — both successful and utter failures — in a variety of roles from IT director to software architect to graphic designer.
Brian is a Microsoft Certified Professional with a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration degree from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas.
Becky Parker — Co-Founder/VP of Marketing
Prior to founding FocalPop, Becky worked in advertising and marketing, where she experienced first-hand the frustration involved with not being able to find the right photos she needed. Her background also includes online community management, which helped Becky find her passion for offering true value to customers online and in developing meaningful customer relationships.
Becky has always been drawn to photography and really enjoys seeing the creative solutions that come out of bringing photo seekers and photographers together.
Shawn Carr — Director of Technology
With over ten years of development experience, Shawn is an accomplished software engineer specializing in web development and database design. Along with a BS from Rochester Institute of Technology and MCDBA, MCAD, MCSA certifications he works through the night killing bugs and making sure FocalPop wows the users.
While he is not an avid photographer by any means, his computer is littered with thousands of photos from over the years. Surprisingly few have his finger in the shot.
